As we step into 2026, let us determine to navigate wisely by the help of the Holy Spirit.

This year, here are 15 things to avoid.

Avoid stupid mistakes

I was unmindful water was still in my hand while trying to raise the fan and it dropped in the fan and blew it up. I found out too late that the fan was already at its highest. It is fixable but it will cost me money. Avoid stupid mistakes  in 2026. Proverbs 14:8 says, "The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways." Think before you act. The heat was a lot and I wanted to solve the problem but the solution I chose became a bigger problem. I who was teaching my mentee's daughter to think before acting did not think in that instance. 

Avoid nonsense friendships

I carried on the friendship because this was the only man still living I had taken to my parents. One day I asked a question as a friend expecting something worth holding on to as excuse not to remarry, he assumed I was insinuating marriage and he said, "you had your time". It hit me hard and there and then I realised this friendship had different definitions for me and for him. I was holding on to friendship as first woman (he never married) or first friend, he was holding on to an old flame. Understand that if such a friendship is with sexual benefits, it is an exercise that will profit little and may end up closing you spiritually and socially to better option. Thankfully I chose the path of righteousness. Avoid nonsense friendships or redefine your friendships in 2026. Proverbs 13:20 warns, "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm. Choose your circle of friends wisely this year and let go of any Jonah that can make your boat sink. 

Avoid silly errors

I once gave a mentee letter of invitation to enable him travel to the USA but in his excitement he left his application form at home when going for his visa interview. Of course he was denied! Money, time and talent went down the drain. Avoid silly errors: Proverbs 22:3 says, "The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple,  keep going and pay the penalty." Be alert and cautious. 

Avoid regrettable disobedience 

This was years ago; I told God if you could bring someone to tell my husband he offended me, I will not take laws into my hands. God did but because he refused to sincerely as for forgiveness, I took laws into my hands. The price of the disobedience is one that could take a lifetime to pay but God's merciful kindness came through. Avoid regrettable disobedience: Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Stay rooted in God's word. 

Avoid terrible omissions 

In 2015 December when I told my husband I was heading to camp to spend the rest of 31 and 1 of January 2016, I omitted the fact that I was inviting him because I loved him and wanted him to be divinely covered. I may have omitted the fact that it was by divine instruction... He said no and I let him be. But that was the beginning of the end of the enemy sealing his coffin. If only I knew, I would have told him clearly this was divine instruction and I would knelt down to beg him. He is dead and I am still suffering homelessness in America. Avoid terrible omissions. James 4:17 reminds us, "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, commits sin." There is sin of omission and sin of commission; do NOT neglect opportunities to do good. 

Avoid senseless arguments

A man God led to a lady started their journey in courtship. He was NOT born again but he had to find Jesus because he loved her. One day, they argued about who would name their child and the lady insisted his unbelieving Muslim mother will NOT name their child. They were neither married nor have a child on the way; they were not even having sex! That was the beginning of the fight that tore them apart. Years after they went their way neither of them had a child. That was an insensible argument caused by satan. Avoid such this year as it could rob you of divine connections.

Avoid obvious pitfalls or crashes

Some pitfalls are NOT obvious but some are. You see a vehicle bigger than yours submerged in water and you say, I am a child of God, I will swim through. That is foolishness. I learned from a channel last year that Myles Monroe of blessed memory was warned of an impending storm or hurricane before he flew. He flew believing God will navigate the plane without issues died. Sadly he died with his wife and others. He was also at a conference ahead of the crash where the Holy Spirit showed me something and I said to my husband that it appeared his ministry was hinged on him, his wife and his children. I remember saying that if anything happens to him, the ministry may NOT survive. Normally he should have been in retreat before the invitation to the conference he honoured and he would likely had gone to the Bahamas earlier and missed the storm. The question is, did God led him to accept the invitation or he couldn't say no because of the calibre of people that invited him. Be sure it is God before you enter obvious pits of the enemy. 

Avoid subtle repression

It is big that you gave up your marital surname as a woman; I never did legally. Though I still carry my husband's last name proudly, I have NOT allowed the burying of the family name God positioned me into. If you are married and all the time he or they write Mr and Mrs or his first name without your first name, you are being subtly repressed and this can lead to you being edged out of blessings. David was a child in the family yet his name was NOT presented.

Avoid silent depression 

Moodiness, "I just don't 'feel' like talking" or "I don't 'feel' like praying", is subtle depression that is satanically wired to slip in silently but can become a monster. Break the ground depression wants to breed in. 

Avoid enemy territory

The mercy of God will sustain you but avoid enemy territories. If you are pushed there or sent their by political decrees like Daniel was, God will shut the mouth of the lions for you. A woman is called a witch and God is NOT leading you to visit, please refrain from visiting to socialise.

Avoid preventable loss 

I was in a tricycle and my money flew off, I mentioned it but the tricycle rider completely ignored me. That was NOT paper, that was money. If I had kept it well, it would not have been blown away by the wind. I was led to pay with the money I could see but insisted on paying for a lady who looked like a newbie in Redemption City. When the money flew off, she showed no concern when the money was blown away. I consoled myself by saying that perhaps someone prayed for money and mine would meet a need.

Avoid wasteful spending 

If you are eating things that could make you sick, money will be needed to treat the repercussion. This simply means you are neither a good steward of life or body. If sugar or ice water does not work well with your body system, avoid it. Your body is the temple of God, take responsibility for wellness to avoid waste which could lead to life threatning issues. There is the also the example of buying what you do NOT need.

Avoid sinful gatherings 

There are invitations to gatherings or events that you know are not right, say NO. It is NOT only songs people go to sing at Fela's Shrine. It is called Kalakuta Republic for a reason. The high level of rituals and diabolical that took place there is now being publicly revealed by a top ranking member who has now given his life to Jesus Christ. Avoid such places; being there could sell your soul to satan without your direct permission.

Avoid time wasting 

Some people call it whiling away time... Rather than just sitting aimlessly, sit purposefully or prayerfully. Rather than walking with a blank mind, do a praise or prayer walk. In 1996 or 1997, I did a counselling project that won me a State Merit Award in Niger State. One of the things I taught the high school students and my co-corps members is that when we waste our seconds, we are actually wasting our lives because seconds translate to minutes, to hours, to days, to weeks, to months, to years and then to LIFE. God gave us abundantly so we can number our days and use them well but time wasted never returns. One day, different people kept me on phone for hours, by the time I checked my data, 1.5gig had gone! My husband and I used to use 3gigabytes of data in a month; both of us. I spent half of that in a day talking. Yes, I always find a way to make my phone conversations meaningful but when you review at times the bulk was spent on unnecessary things especially IF it started without an agenda. After I expended time with a counselled, she sent me 50 minutes of voice note, well I did NOT listen because such means I have to commit time and attention to hearing, listening and understanding. I already devoted time to counselling. If you want to pass a message to a leader, counsellor or mother figure take the time to schedule an appointment or send a typed or written message that can be read at convenience. I am led to add this: I visited someone and immediately I got there I became uncomfortable be arsed she was on a call for about 10 minutes. To pin me down, she served me drinks which I ignored while she continued with her call. I was there as a chaplain not for entertainment.  Thankfully I had obeyed God and ate before going otherwise hunger would have turned to anger. Cut a long story short I found out the next morning that I had caught an infection. She was treating an ailment and I was unmindful of this in spite of God leading me to see the medications on the table. The visit was meant to be short and though God gave me a reason to leave early, I decided to stay so I can minister to her. Thankfully God led me to take things that healed the infection. Wasted time is costly. The visit and the length of stay was avoidable.

Avoid location or relocation unapproved by the Holy Spirit

Go only where God leads. Those who came with Anthony Joshua the celebrated boxer were coming to enjoy December or perhaps even "detty december" but two of them are dead; according to what my brother told me, those were his trainers and good friends. God saved his life by leading him to change his location in the vehicle. If God is NOT leading you to go to a particular location or to relocate, avoid it this year. Stay where God put you. While in Jamaica, word came from my mentor for us to go to Montego Bay in a bid to jet out but God led me to tell her it is better we stay in Kingston. Brethren, we may have lost our lives or have to stay in shelter in Montego Bay because it was worse hit and those there could not travel out from there; they had to come to Kingston. God weakened the hurricane where we were and directed the storm away from our location. Like God used the slave girl for Naaman, God can use anyone for you this year. God thereafter used my mentor to make provision for our stay as we all took on the assignment of intercepting for Jamaica and the Caribbean Island. Obedience is better than sacrifice, 1 Samuel 15:22. 

Lamentations 3:22-23 in the King James Version (KJV), are well-known verses that reads: 

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 

Brethren, cry out for mercy the mercy of God to bless you will wisdom to position yourself rightly this year.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 

As we decide to walk wisely in 2026, leaning on God's wisdom, let us always remember to ask for God's mercy to keep us away from invisible fiery darts as we in Godled wisdom, dodge the visible ones.

Peace Deal

In 2016 following the transition of my beloved and the drama orchestrated by his family that almost engulfed me, I had one key prayer point - Lord Grant me PEACE. I prayed this point in tranquility and in tears.

 

I thought of seeing Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye but I did NOTHING to make it happen; my hope was in God and I never had the tradition of running after men or women of God. 

 

But the Holy Spirit strategically mapped the path through me humbly carrying the bag of a woman of God and just following as her cadre of pastors were called to see Pastor Adeboye. By the time she realised I was still with her, clutching to her bag, I was already at the border office and I made my demand - 'I want to see Daddy'. She responded with a sigh, You have asked a hard thing but let me go and ask. As she was going in to make the request, after her own group meeting, I stepped right in, courageously. There was no turning back now. 

 

The man known as Daddy G.O. who I call in my mind Daddy GO, prayed with the empathy only a divinely ordained father could have mustered after hearing that the year claimed not one but two beloved ones closest to my heart - my husband and my sister. One thing I picked and held on to in his short but soul lifting prayer was, Lord grant your daughter peace. 

 

As we wrapped up the year 2025 we had a review of our year with 5 simple questions

 

1. What were your goals or resolutions. when 2025 began?

 

2. Which of the goals did you achieve and why/how?

 

3. Which are you YET to achieve and why?

 

4. What will you do to ensure you meet or achieve the goals yet to be achieved?

5. If you know you have struggled with a particular goal, share your struggle so members can share tips for success with you?

 

One of our graced sisters mentioned during the meeting that when 2025 began she was NOT on speaking terms with family members due to land issues but she happily announced that the messages from Graceful Women Ministry under my watch led her choose to pursue peace and the Holy Spirit helped her to turn the situation around; she is now reconcilled. I could hear peace and satisfaction in her voice. How so beautiful!

 

Another graced sister shared that she pursued and achieved peace and achieved a better relationship with the Holy Spirit. Neat!

 

One sister who had shared testimonies of her daughter's admission was attracted to the goal of reconciliation and peace that she in high expectation made pursuing peace that leads to reconciliation with family members her own goal for 2026. This for me is beautiful ministry when vulnerability leads to victory for us all.

 

I went on to reiterate that pursuing peace is great but we must protect the peace we have or arrive at. Those who have lost their peace have an agenda to scatter the peace we achieved. We must guide and guard our peace intentionally with the help of the Holy Spirit.

 

“Beloved sisters, the year is YET to end. Among all your goals and getting, I urge you to pursue peace and trust the Holy Spirit to protect peace.”

 

If I will give you the gift of one word today, the second to the last Sunday of 2025, it is PEACE. Dearly beloved I urge you to

 

Pursue PEACE

Embrace PEACE

Anchor PEACE

Celebrate PEACE

Encourage PEACE

 

You have it right there, the acronym for PEACE given to me by the Holy Spirit. I sought the help of AI for another word for the A but it had none better than ANCHOR.

 

I urge you to become the Peace Ambassador in your heart, home and homeland after the order in Romans 12:18 - If it is possible, as far as it depends or relies on you, live or be at peace with everyone, all humans!

 

Matthew 5:9 tells us that peacemakers or peace initiators are blessed because they will be called children of God. When you are peaceful even unbelievers see God in you.

 

These verses capture the essence of pursuing, embracing, anchoring, celebrating and encouraging peace. GOD The Father embodies peace.

 

Psalm 34:14 encourage us as believers to actively choose righteousness and peace - Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

 

Peace may sound intangible but you know it when you have it; nothing bothers or stresses you anymore. There is money, praise God, there is no money, praise God.

 

I spoke to a woman whose grandchild is dealing with autism, her state of worry and anxiety was at an all-time high. If she does NOT already have blood pressure issues, she may land right there if she does NOT hand over the worry to God. She has abandoned her own aspiration to worry about a condition she can do little about beyond praying, encouraging, affirming, counselling and embracing the parents and the child, in the knowledge that God does NOT create damaged children; situation and people damage the minds or bodies and God in His Infinite Mercies can fix this. Plus, there are professionals gifted to help them. I counselled her and offered to link her to a professional in the field that I recently met but the next day she went right back to weeping! As I always say, ti ekun ana ba ba oju je, ki la ma fi ri ayo ni owuro! If the weeping of yesterday damages the eyes, what will we use to see the joy in the morning!

 

I encourage you to affirm loud and clear:

 

I have PEACE.

 

I am a woman of peace.

 

I accept the peace of God that passeth all understanding into my heart, home and homeland!

 

Brethren, I anchor the peace I achieved on God and I encourage you to do the same. No one will be in your face or space 24 hours in a day. Whether married or not, no human can be in your heart or mind except you create room or mansion for them there so PLEASE FOR PEACE SAKE, LET PEOPLE OR THINGS THAT CREATE OFFENCE GO SO YOUR PEACE IS ESTABLISHED.

 

Peace steadies and balances the soul. Peace is the stabiliser your heart needs and the security that holds your mind firm through stress and storm. 

 

Psalm 107:30 captures a moment of relief and joy after a terrifying experience. The verse speaks of sailors who, after enduring a fierce storm, finally see the waters calm down. The phrase “they were glad” highlights the deep sense of gratitude and relief they felt once God intervened. God calmed the storm and safely guided them to their desired destination. This should be your goal.

 

No one calls anyone resilient, until we have won peacefully. If you win and your home is scattered, you have NOT won. If you win and you lose your child, you have NOT won.

 

As the year ends I, Omolola affirm that I will -

 

Pursue peace with God as my HELPER.

 

Embrace peace and treasure the achievement

 

Anchor peace on God The Maker of all good things

 

Celebrate peace in me and around me

 

Encourage peace in as much as it lies with me

A Rhema Moment

Protagonist: I have heard this verse so many times, but today, something hit me. (pauses, smiling) I saw it in a new light. 'Train', is not just about discipline; it is about direction. It is about pointing the child towards destiny, not just teaching them a set of rules.

Protagonist: The Holy Spirit revealed that it is not just about my own child, or even just about children. It is about every child, every young person, in my sphere of influence. The neighbour's child (children), the one in my congregation, the one on the streets...

Protagonist: This fresh understanding has deepened my faith, reminding me that God's word is alive and active. As I dug deeper into Scripture, I found that it is not just about knowledge, but transformation. It is about allowing God's truth to shape me, mould me, and send me to children in need of cheer, counsel and/or correction.

Protagonist: What excites me spiritually is the prospect of interpreting Scripture well, not just for myself, but for others. Many interprete this verse as your own children; I did at some point but the Holy Spirit redirected me. I am happy to see people encounter God's word and have their lives changed... It is a privilege, a responsibility and a joy.

(smiling)

Protagonist: Whether I'm leading worship, counselling, or just sharing with a friend, I want to unlock the Scriptures in a way that reveals God's heart and sparks faith. And it is not just about me; it is about empowering others to do the same.

(softly)

Protagonist: Thank You Lord, for this fresh perspective. Let me continue to be a guiding light, a channel of hope, and a voice of encouragement to every child, young person, and seeker I encounter.

Standing in the Gap: Praying for Jamaica and the Caribbean During Hurricane Melissa

When Hurricane Melissa threatened Jamaica and the Caribbean, bringing fear, devastation, and uncertainty, the Lord stirred my spirit to stand in the gap in prayer for our island and the region. In those moments of storm and distress, I was reminded that while the winds may rage and the seas may roar, God remains our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

As the host of the Morning Glory Devotional Programme, I called upon believers to unite in intercession, to lift up our nation before the Lord, pleading for His mercy and divine protection. We declared peace over the atmosphere, rebuked the spirit of fear and invited the presence of God to cover every home, community, and coastline.

There are persons who have testified of how, in the midst of the storm, they felt an unexplainable calm, a peace that surpasses understanding. That peace is the power of prayer in action. It is evidence that God listens and responds to the cries of His people. Though we faced damage and disruption, the hand of God preserved us from greater destruction. 

I truly believe that the collective prayers of the faithful caused the storm to weaken and move away faster than predicted.

To those who were directly or indirectly impacted by Hurricane Melissa; those who lost homes, livelihoods, or loved ones, I want to remind you: God has not forgotten you. In the ashes of loss, He plants seeds of restoration. The same God who calmed the sea for His disciples will calm the storms in your life. Hold fast to your faith and trust that what the enemy meant for evil, God will turn for good.

To my fellow Jamaicans and the wider Caribbean family, let this be a call to unity, compassion and renewal. Let us rebuild not only our physical structures but our spiritual foundations. The storm may have shaken us, but it has not destroyed us. We are a resilient people, anchored in hope and sustained by grace.

And to Christians and non-Christians across the world, I say this: the times remind us of our shared humanity and our need for divine help. Whether you stand on the mountain of faith or are still searching for meaning, God’s love extends to you. He invites all of us to seek Him, not just in crisis, but every day, for in His presence there is safety, wisdom and peace.

As I continue to pray for Jamaica and the Caribbean, my heart is filled with gratitude — gratitude that we are still standing and gratitude for the opportunity to witness the power of a praying people.

May we continue to look upward, walk in faith and arise stronger, knowing that our God reigns above every storm.

Vessel of Love

The story that comes to mind is one that began with deceit and denial. 

I remember the day the Holy Spirit led me to visit my friend who was considering abortion. It was a tough situation, especially given the circumstances – she was pregnant by a man who had asked me out. I initially was in denial. Knowing that the Holy Spirit has never lied to me I had to face my fear. I knew it would not be an easy conversation, but the need to obey the Holy Spirit compelled me to go. 

When I shared my concerns, she initially denied and later broke down on tears, and we talked through her fears and uncertainties. It was a raw and emotional conversation, but ultimately, she chose to keep the pregnancy. I was overjoyed and continued to support her through the journey. 

What struck me was how God used me to be a vessel of love and care, despite the complexity of the situation. I had to navigate my own feelings and boundaries, but I chose to prioritize her well-being and the life of the child. 

As she struggled to care for the baby, I took her in, providing a safe space for her and the little one. It was not easy, and there were times I felt tested, but I knew I was called to love and serve. 

Years went by, and we lost touch, but the bond remained. One day, I ran into them, and the boy, now a bright-eyed youngster, recognized me and hugged me so tightly. He never wanted to let go until his mother nudged him away... In that moment, I knew it was all worth it. 

This experience has shaped how I approach care and collaboration. I have learned to be more intentional, to listen for the Holy Spirit's guidance, and to prioritize love over personal interest. It has taught me to be more patient and understanding, recognizing that everyone has a story. 

As a result, I have become more willing to take risks and go the extra mile for those in need. I have seen firsthand how God's love can heal and redeem, even in the most challenging situations. 

The boy's hug reminded me that the investment was worth it. It ia not about seeking recognition or reciprocation; it i about loving because we have been loved and forgiven by God. It is about being a vessel for God's love to flow through us, even when it is hard.
