“I Asked the Lord to Make It Clear!” Lola Akindele’s Story of How She Got Confirmation of “The One”

This testimony was shared by Lola Akindele online. I have reproduced the interesting story here (though there were a couple of absences) because this could be your story. Portiphar did not know God, yet God connected Joseph to him to fulfill purpose. King Ahasuerus was ungodly, otherwise he would not have made an unrighteous request of Vashti, but God connected Esther to him for the fulfillment of purpose. 

Lola Akindele and Dayo Busari are now married. I have edited the story for brevity and clarity.

How We Met

At the end of July 2010, I had just come back from a holiday with my sister and friends and I was also rounding up dissertation for my masters program. I was ready for marriage and I prayed for God to reveal my future husband, as I didn’t want to be lead astray. I decided to do a week of prayer and fasting for God to please give me a discerning spirit throughout the whole process.

Being 26 years old, from the age of 16 up until I was 23, I had had 3 different boyfriends at different stages throughout that time. The reason for breaking up with each one had \been the same. None of them could understand or accept my views on having no sex until marriage (even though they said they were fine with it at first). I had made this decision when I was 13 at my old church, KICC, after reading Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo’s book, “Let’s Talk About Sex” and it’s a decision that God has allowed me to keep, by His Grace.

This time, I needed God to bring the man that He had destined for me, not someone who I wanted to choose with my own reasoning. The first day of my fast was just before IGOC 2010 and my mother encouraged me to take advantage of the access we were given to directly call Pastor Ashimolowo. I told Pastor Matthew my prayer points regarding my future husband and we both prayed for a discerning spirit so that I would know the right one whom God has chosen for me.

Strangely, that week, I randomly received messages and calls from my ex-boyfriends, telling me that they still wanted to be with me but I was able to dismiss their advances without being drawn back in. For each of them, God revealed things to me about them that were warning signs, confirming that He did not want me to be with them.

On the last day of my fasting I received a message from an old friend from University called Dayo. We had studied at Queen Mary’s together in 2006, until he left for a different university (UCL) where he completed his masters program. We occasionally kept in touch from time to time. I ignored his message as I was not prepared to ‘waste’ time with another guy who was not ready to deal with my views on abstinence, so.

Surprisingly, later that day, my mother asked after him, saying that she hadn’t heard me mention him for a while. I was shocked and told her that he actually sent me a message that morning. She urged me to reply his message, which I did reluctantly.

The Answer to My Prayers

We eventually started speaking, and I learned that he just felt an inexplicable urge to send me a message on the morning that had turned out to be my last day of prayer and fasting.

And thus began the start of something good. During a conversation on the night of our second date, I asked him which church he attended and he went silent on the phone. He then said he had something that he had wanted to tell me face to face. I urged him to go on… Then he said, “I’m a Muslim!” I felt like I’d been slapped in the face by a mighty wave of shock and disbelief.

I informed him that we would just have to be friends because as a believer in Christ, there would be no way that our relationship could go further towards the road of marriage.

I informed my parents and they supported my decision. However, I could feel a strong urging in my spirit, telling me not to break up our relationship and to just stay where I was with him. But I was not certain of how God wanted this to go. Was I just supposed to be a friend to him who would introduce him to Christ and after a period of time we would go our separate ways?

Angelic Intervention

In January 2011 God began to speak to me clearly. At the start of January, I awoke at 3AM to a bright light shining in my bedroom. There, standing by my wardrobe was a very tall angel dressed in sparkling white robes. I was so afraid and I could feel a strange sensation surging through my body that would cause me to shake, like my whole body was vibrating and shock waves were going through me but at the same time it was a beautiful feeling. Then the angel spoke to me. It said that God has seen that I’ve been worried about Dayo being a Muslim, but that I shouldn’t worry about it because in the Lord’s own time, He will bring Dayo to Jesus Christ and that the Lord has called for us to be together as husband and wife.

I was shocked, afraid, amazed and glad all at the same time. I couldn’t even speak and the Holy Spirit instructed me to write everything down that the angel had told me. I also wrote down the date and time that it happened and told my family about the visitation. I was so happy. I had no clue when Dayo’s salvation would take place or when our wedding would be but I trusted in the Lord and even bought my wedding dress and started making wedding plans.

This angelic visit continued… The Holy Spirit would wake me and I would spend time with the Lord. He would tell me various things about what would happen in my life in the future, as well as about the relationship that he had planned for Dayo and I. One of the key things that Jesus told me during one of my visits was that He himself would bind Dayo and I together with cords of love that cannot be broken and that we will be joined together when we are made of the same material.

At one point in 2011 the Lord told me that when Dayo gives his life, a sign will take place and that sign would be: one of the elders in my church will come up to me after I have taught my Sunday school class, and enquire of Dayo and the wedding plans.

I documented everything down, sharing the Lord’s messages with my family but not with Dayo, as the Lord had said that I was not to reveal these things to him. That He himself would reveal Himself to Dayo so that all of the glory would go to God. God’s voice sounded like thunder in my ears, so loud and mighty but also very distinctly clear and full of love.

Deeply Spiritual Revelations

It was fantastic being so close to God and knowing that He truly does care about the individual lives of His people. However, it was a challenging period that tested my faith as I was receiving words of doubt from certain people around me and even threats of being disowned because of my relationship with Dayo. I cried and ask God questions; why couldn’t I just be with a good man from church, where I would have none of these complications.

But God is faithful and always has a plan. Just before I turned 25, an angel came to my bedside, bringing a loaf of bread for me to eat. The Holy Spirit explained that the bread is the Word of God and dwelling on the Word will bring strength to my spirit. The Word of the Lord sustained and kept me going through what was like the lowest point during the two year period of waiting on the Lord for Dayo’s salvation. It was a couple of days after the angel had brought me the bread, that my father informed me that Dayo had asked for my hand in marriage and that he had objected to it.

I cried out to the Lord again and asked Him for help. I couldn’t stop crying. Like Hezekiah who laid out his letter before the Lord, I wrote a letter to God, reminding him of His promises regarding Dayo’s salvation and our marriage – and I took the letter to the Lord in prayer and placed it in my Bible by Psalm 27,  which states that we should wait patiently on the Lord.

Since the Lord had already told me about Dayo’s salvation, I needed to know if He wanted us to be married first and then Dayo would be saved or if he was to be saved first, before we were to be married. So I asked the Lord to please make it clear. Despite not discussing this with anyone, the next morning my mother came to me saying that she had a dream the night before, where the Lord was wiping away my tears and comforting me, telling me that He knows that I want Dayo and I to be married now but that I must wait for his salvation first. I was amazed and I revealed to her that I had asked God for a sign regarding this the night before.

I knew that for certain, when God decrees a thing, it will surely come to pass. Exactly 3 months after this, on a Friday, Dayo informed me that he had finally finished reading a book called The Shack, that I had given to him about 18 months ago, which helped him to understand the God Head and the dynamics of The Trinity.

Dayo’s Salvation

After my mother had a dream that the time for Dayo’s salvation was now, she woke up everyone to pray for Dayo, for his salvation. I prayed, believing in God’s promises but also having a slight sense of doubt and despair, for I knew that the past two years had been so difficult. Furthermore, at this point in time, Dayo and I had taken a break, as I wanted him to seek Christ and the truth for himself, and to not accept Christianity just because of me or to just stick with Islam because he had grown up in a Muslim home.

I explained that the truth is found in having a true personal experience and relationship with God for yourself. God told me that He would put spiritual wings behind Dayo’s ears so that when He calls him to salvation, he would hear and know that Jesus truly is the Lord.

To the glory of God, the very next night Dayo gave his life to Christ and he later explained that he had had a dream that revealed the truth of Christ to him.

Thereafter, in accordance with God’s Word, as I was walking out of Sunday School, the very same elder that God had told me about over a year ago, approached me and asked me about Dayo and the wedding, just as God said it would happen. After speaking with this elder, my Pastor, Pastor Ashaye called me aside, saying that he wanted a meeting the next week to discuss the progress regarding Dayo’s salvation.

The Glory of Success

I can only give God the glory because it’s all His doing. His plans for us will never fail and His pure love for us goes beyond anything that we could imagine. I am truly grateful to God for blessing me with a man who, despite not being a Christian before, still respected my love for Christ and my views regarding no sex before marriage – a view that even my ex-Christian boyfriends did not accept.

God has blessed me with the man of my dreams and brought me my true prince. In fact, at a time when I questioned God about His decision to bring me a Muslim, I was beginning to feel envious of typical young ladies who found their husbands in Church, God’s exact words to me were: You have your prince in Dayo.

I truly bless the Lord for His faithfulness and I thank God for the encouragement and support of my close friends, my siblings, my father and especially my mother, because God revealed things concerning Dayo’s salvation to her and her support throughout it all has been an incredible blessing.

My Charge to YOU

My prayer is that each and everyone of us will never leave the path that God has laid out for us, for when we are in right standing with the Lord, He will surely speak to us and direct us in our lives.

For all the women trusting God for their future spouse, my prayer is that we will always put it into God’s hands. He will surely tell you if He does not agree with you being with a certain individual but the choice will always be ours to either follow His perfect will for our lives or not.

Conclusion

My first book “Papa’s LITTLE Girls” shows the love that God has for His daughters, no matter what they go through in their relationships with men. I thank God for filling me with the passion to be a mentor to young ladies and to encourage them to love Christ first, before any man.

I give the one and only true Lord, Jesus Christ, the highest praise, as He continues to direct and guide Dayo and I in our Christian faith together as we prepare for our wedding.

The Grace of God is free and can never be monetised. Fee-based counselling is only necessitated by a need for multiple sessions to focus on the issue and commit the time required to biblically seek solution. 

Following your registration, details of one on one sessions are below:

It is fee based and each session is guarantee by fee payment (self-paying or sponsored). 

If doing the entire 12 sessions, it will be discounted and 50% payable upfront or as agreed. If not, payment per session would be upfront. We have a total of 12 and topics consider important would be preselected while paying attention to your areas of need.

These sessions are on helping you discover purpose which will position you for success in your relationship as well as positively impact your marriage, your job, spiritual and social life.

In DC, we use the 10-Phase Process:

1. Initial Contact to ensure you have knowledge of the journey we are embarking on. The first session may extend beyond 45 minutes up to 90 minutes. This is to ensure the process is well explained. This session comes with registration.

2. Prayer. I trust that you have started this and will continue to do this. First and foremost, your prayer should be that the Holy Spirit will help you to yield to His will. Prayer is very important. It is important that you pray about your decision to go through this counselling, pray and meditate seriously as most of your assignments would require. 

3. Follow-Up (Feedback)

4. Acceptance Phase (Agreement)

5. Documentation (Form Filling/Submission)

6. Clarification of Faith (Session on Salvation)

7. Data Gathering

8. Defining the Problem

9. Sessions/Follow Through With Sessions. It is required that you be willing and available to follow through.

Now that you have made a personal decision to go through the process of biblical counsel, the decision will be/has been made about the number of sessions, duration (45 minutes/session, we may go over this but no extra fee would be charged) and when (kindly send 2-3 options of day/time weekly).

‪There are 12 sessions in total with a minimum of 4 but the total number you elect to do is up to you. The fewer you sign up for, the limited your options as we have compulsory sessions to ensure you maximise 

Please note that counsel is not necessarily to transform you, your partner or to assure you he will be perfect. Counsel is to position you to discover and fulfil purpose and to destroy the root of any gloom in your bloom. This way, you are positioned for marital joy and to walk through life purposefully and joyfully on your own. 

The sessions with different topics and assignment would help you identify and deal with issues. It is like taking antibiotics for infection, it is always important to complete the dosage. It is also possible to use other means e.g. diet (e.g. reading of our resources, attending our programmes or serving on the committee) in lieu of completing the dosage. 

Once a decision is made on the number of sessions, agenda would be mapped for each session. There would be assignments for each session and it is important that you do the assignment. Venue for sessions would be online (Whatsapp); if you wish to have one face to face, it could be arranged.

It is advisable to go for deliverance if you have identified the need for it. Deliverance is like surgical operation, if the issue is uterine fibroids and you decide to go and remove a lump in the armpit, it does not solve the issue for which you require intervention. As you pray along, God will direct you to know whether you need deliverance. If you believe you require one, sign up for one with a trusted man or woman of God. You can be referred as well or tips for self deliverance can be requested.

Missing sessions (not being available at the time agreed) or not doing assignment attracts surcharge. I ask that you respect this. Where assignment is not done, actual rate for that session would apply. Cancellation less than 48 hours to appointment would attract half the fee. Late cancellations (a day before on day) would attract full fee. I thank you for your understanding of this policy. Payment for sessions (would be upfront) and surcharges would be made via cash, cheque or PayPal to the account specified.

OVERFLOWING GREATNESS (II) by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

This is a continuation of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye's message of October 3.

6. EXCEEDINGLY GREAT

Then the sixth one is EXCEEDINGLY GREAT and we will see that example in the case of Jacob, Genesis 30:40-43 And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle.

The man became exceedingly great. To become exceedingly great requires a special act of the covenant keeping God; because the way that Jacob became exceedingly great could be traced back to Genesis 28:10-22. When he was running away from home and had a dream, you remember the dream? He slept, he saw a ladder going to heaven, angel ascending, descending, and God spoke to him and said I am the God of your father Abraham, not Isaac now, God of your father Abraham. Abraham is the one I had a covenant with and because of that covenant I had with Abraham, I will make you exceedingly great. What was it that God did? God just gave him an idea, one single idea; if any animal is pregnant and you put this kind of wood before the animal, this is the kind of children the animal will produce. That is the idea! And using that idea, Jacob became exceedingly great. I can give you several examples of people who are exceedingly great. Am happy my children said that greatness is not necessarily a function of material possession; you can have all the money in the world and be useless. As they say where I came from; you can go to hell with your money, you are not the one feeding me, the one who is feeding you is the one who can begin to control. But don’t let us deceive ourselves there is no greatness in poverty.

The messenger who says he is greater than the manager is deceiving himself, correct or not? So there is this man who was just going on a stroll and he saw a factory and he asked his driver, I think he was driving around in his Rolls Royce and then he saw a factory. And believe me honestly if somebody had a Rolls Royce he must be considered great in the sense of material now. He said“what factory is that, that is so dirty?” The driver said “that is the factory where they made Rolls Royce, he said what? The factory where they made my car is this dirty?” He said “drive me there”. So he went to the factory and said I want to see the owner of this factory. They took him to the office of the big man. So he said to the man, “I want to buy this factory” The man said “either you are drunk or you are crazy, I mean because even the product from this factory, each one cost a fortune and you want to buy?” The man said, “I am buying the entire business”. The man told him, “who told you I need money, who told you I want to sell? He said “Listen to me I will make you an offer you cannot refuse”. Less than one hour later, the owner of factory has signed it off. Power passes power, Greatness passes greatness.

There is someone here tonight, when they talk about you, they will say your greatness is an exceeding one.

7. OVERFLOWINGLY GREAT

The final one is OVERFLOWINGLY GREAT; and the good example for that is Joseph. That is why I read Genesis 50:15-20, when God uses a single man to keep the whole world alive, that is overflowing greatness, you see because somebody said; Joseph made Egypt great, because Genesis 41:57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

The Lord says there is someone here tonight, He said I promise you, I will not let you down.

You know occasionally you go to a meeting and you go to a meeting burdened, because you have a problem that only God can solve and you do not even see how you can get out of the tight corner in which you find yourself. In addition, it has happened to me before several years ago; I had a big problem and I did not know how I will win the battle, it was a tough battle. And so we were going to have a program in London and somebody was going to speak before I speak, and I just kept crying within me; Lord speak to me I want to hear from You. And the man got up and was talking on something and all of a sudden he branched off and said that brethren, do you know that, the summary of the book of revelation is that at last we win. In addition, I know that is God is talking to me.

At last I win! In addition, God has spoken to me again tonight and He may have spoken to somebody else too.

But God is saying I promise you, I will not let you down.

Daddy says there is someone here tonight, He said I assure you, you will not stop rising.

Overflowing greatness can only come to you by the act of a God who gives visions and fulfill them.

Therefore, I want to encourage the youth tonight, you remember we spoke yesterday and those of you who were not around maybe you try and get the tape of last night. When God gives you a vision, if it’s a vision from God it is not likely to make sense. It will be so big, it will not make human sense, but if it’s from God, it will come to pass.

So I am saying to all my children; particularly those of you with big dreams do not let the dreams die because they shall come to pass.

The conclusion that I have in my note had been mentioned by one of my children. The greatest secret of overflowing greatness is Holiness. In addition, like I told you yesterday, God who is the ultimate Author of greatness is a holy God. If you ask Him, Almighty God gives us just one word by which you want to be known?

It is the word HOLY. The angles keeps crying holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. They have been crying it before the world began and they are still crying it right now. In fact I have asked the questions before; Father can’t these angel sing another song? He said that is the one I want to hear - Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty. That is why I am appealing to every one of us believing God for the kind of greatness that will overflow, the greatness that will turn you to a blessing, not just to people in your local government but to people all over the world. You must be holy, that is it. We have held a whole congress on that topic before, we call it the MASTER KEY; it opens the door to every other things. If only you are determined to be holy, and if you are determined to be holy, God will make it possible. Because, Holiness is very easy. Holiness as far as you are concern is simple, just obey God, that is all. Obey Him in everything, when He asks you to sit down, sit down. Stand up; stand up. Witness; witness. Follow up, do it. Give your offering cheerfully; give it. Pay your tithe; pay all. Honor me with your first fruit, go ahead and do it. Holiness simply means obedience. That is why I have no problem with Holiness, I just obey my Commander in Chief and I have seen the results and I am telling you, you go into a life of holiness and very soon the world will know that the Almighty God can turn nothing to something.

He can take next to nothing; the lunch of a boy and turn it to something that can feed thousands with left over. He can take little in a single night and promote that little to become a king. And when he chooses you to be great, nobody can stop you. Like one of my sons said, if your making is of God, no human being can break you. Believe God for every one of you who are here tonight and everyone who is younger that I am is a youth. Therefore, if you are younger than seventy-two you are a youth but if you are older than seventy-two then you are old.

However, I am speaking to all the youth here tonight, in the Name that is above every other name, in the name of my God, the Lord Jesus Christ; you shall be over flowingly great.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, Please do not let me be the enemy of my own greatness.

2. Father, every enemy of my greatness Lord, physical or spiritual demolish tonight

3. Father, myself my children, my grandchildren, let our greatness be known to the world.

In the Name that is above every other name, all your prayers shall be answered. You will not be the enemies of your own greatness. And every enemy of your greatness physical or spiritual, whether they are from your father’s house or from your mother’s house, from your husband house, from your wife’s house, every enemies of your greatness shall be destroyed tonight. Your greatness shall be known all over the world and your children will be greater than you and their children will be greater than they.

From now on in every generation, following you there shall be overflowing greatness. So shall it be in Jesus Mighty Name we have prayed. Amen.

Let someone shout hallelujah!
